This is an informational site for the City of Brooks Alberta Canada. Brooks is a booming city and many people are moving here from all over Canada, either to work the oil patch or to work at Lakeside. There are many newfoundlanders here. This site will hopefully help you find your way around Brooks a little bit better. Brooks is located in the County of Newell and is about 2 hours east of Calgary and about 1 hour West of Medicine Hat. Brooks has a population of 13,000 people with many people from different backgrounds who work in a number of industries. Brooks has a very active and strong oil patch, agriculture and service industry, though the oilpatch has slowed down recently due to the global economic downturn and lower natural gas prices. This site will provide information on everything from the Brooks Bandits to the hot drinking spots to local events like the Brooks fishing derby. Brooks Alberta History
Brooks became a Village on July 14, 1910 and then later became a town on September 8, 1911. With fertile soil, irrigation systems and an abundance of land, the Brooks area because an important area for farming and ranching. In recent news Brooks has officially become a city. In today's times, the oil and gas industry and lakeside are the main sources of employment and have attracted a lot of newcomers to the Brooks area.
Is There Anything To Do In Brooks?
Is there actually anything to do in Brooks? The answer is yes. Despite being a small rural community Brooks has a ton of things to do and check while you are here. For example people could visit such attractions as the Brooks Aqueduct, The museum, The Brooks water park, The Lakeside Leisure center, Lake Newell Resort and much more. One could go to the arena and watch the Brooks Bandits play hockey. On top of all those there are tons of parks located throughout the town and lot of places to shop. Brooks offers a lot of things that the big cities don't. The Brooks area is one of the best in the world for hunting. There is lots of fishing and other outdoor activities to do.
